MDCU stands for Martinsville DuPont Credit Union. Being a not-for-profit financial institution allows MDCU to return excess earnings to you, its members / depositors in the form of increased dividend rates on saving accounts, lower interest rates on loans and investment in delivery channels to meet our members needs.
We opened our doors in 1953 as a small financial cooperative that served the employees of the DuPont Corporation production plant in Martinsville, Virginia. MDCU was chartered by employees to serve employees. Our name has represented excellent financial service for over 50 years. Although the plant has closed, MDCU’s membership and financial strength have continued to grow and we now serve the families that live in the foothills of Virginia.
Today, membership with MDCU is open to persons who work or live in the counties of Franklin, Henry, Patrick and Pittsylvania including Martinsville and Danville.
In addition, all our member accounts are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government, up to at least $250,000. Individual Retirement Accounts are insured separately up to $250,000 by NCUA.
